The Vamps........

A few weeks back I had the pleasure of organising the lighting design to shoot the band 'The Vamps'. It was a mix of fashion, press and also the cover for their new single.

Good thing about lighting record label jobs is there isn't much of a limit on the lighting budget so you can relax a bit with the kit ordering. This was a big bonus for the shoot as we were out on location at Friendly Place with a veeeeery long and varied shot list so having to umm and errr between kit items would have been a mega pain.

We had a bunch of Profoto heads and packs, beauty dish, Octa light bank, strip boxes, gels, black wrap and more. All delivered by the good people at Direct Photographic ;)

We had a bunch of set-ups all around the location which is spread over 3 floors. It was a day of lot's of running around with lights and stands, re-setting and figuring out things.

The images are just starting to come out now with one being used for the current tour poster

and the single cover which we used almost everything we had. Heads, gels, octas, black wrap snoots and more.....

Until next time.....................

Rock gods!

Flash back Friday today.

This one is a from a while back, on a shoot with David Venni for Shortlist Magazine.

We were shooting over at Jet Studios in west London which isn't the closest to get to from Hackney but with the Overground now being orbital it's not too bad.

It was a cover and inside shoot with the Stereophonics so we had a bunch of PA speakers brought in as props for the band to position them selves on and had lots of gels for the lighting. All that was to be done was the fiddling and testing. Luckily I brought my other selves along with me.

Looking good huh?

And, the finished product.............

Gallifrey

So, as well as new job's I shall be digging through the old archive of past assisting gigs.

This one was one of the best for me, being a HUGE Doctor Who fan!!
I was assisting David Venni with the Red Represents team back in June last year, driving out to the BBC studios in Wales.
The shoot was for poster images and portraits on Colorama's to be later comped on top of an explosion. With this in mind we lit it with oranges and back lights.

Due to time restrictions on the day we had two set's ready to rock. One for the main poster image and one for the portraits.
 Actually flying the Tardis!!!!

Colorama cast offs. Perfect for small test shoots and still life work etc ;)

The Mini factory has the most amazing tunnel of light, which they use when polishing the cars. Managed to grab a cheeky shot for my personal project "Adventures In Strange Utopia"whilst we were setting up.
